Wallnäs Timber – a satisfied customer’s first anniversary with SISS.

Wallnäs Timber AB is a sawmill located just to the west of Mariannelund in Eksjö municipality, Sweden. They produce sawn and planed wood products and specialise in larger timber dimensions, working with larger, broader and finger-jointed timber. The products are primarily used within the construction and furniture industries.

Kent Johansson, the company’s marketing manager, describes the transition to SISS:

“We heard that our previous system supplier, Winsaw, was closing, and we wanted to act as early as possible to avoid problems. We had already been using DataPolarna’s SIPal for a while. So we thought it would be a good idea to add SISS too.”

Installation took place in August last year, and some internal reorganisation was necessary at the outset before the staff all got to grips with the new system.

“We got lots of help and support from DataPolarna’s Michael Tågerud, who is very familiar with the sawmill industry. He helped us a lot in the initial phase, and has continued to assist us. We’ve had lots of meetings with him, and now we’ve made great progress with exploiting all the benefits of SISS. Overall, we’re extremely satisfied with the installation of SISS in our company.”

Kent also feels that it's important for both Wallnäs Timber and DataPolarna to have an ongoing dialogue so they can continue developing the system to suit sawmills of different sizes. “There are some aspects that could be developed. Learning from each other creates a win-win situation.”
