SILog – Logistics for Log Yards, Firewood Yards, and Terminals

Built for simplicity, designed for control

SILog helps sawmills and terminals maintain full control over every log, every stack, every bay, every vehicle, and every production flow. The system provides operators with a clear, real-time view of inventory status, machine movements, and where each load should be placed next. With dynamic storage areas, real-time support, and built-in data buffering, SILog is designed to make operations on the lumber yard more accurate, efficient, and easier to manage.

Error-free digital logging plan

Work at the lumber yard is often managed using paper notes, Excel files, static maps, or manual procedures. This can easily lead to logs being placed in the wrong pile, information getting lost between different people, and production losing both time and efficiency. SILog solves this by providing everyone with the same up-to-date information in a single system. The result is better collaboration, fewer sorting errors, and more flexible use of storage space.

A simple and visual cutting plan

The visual map interface in SILog makes it easy for operators.

SILog guides the operator directly on the screen. From pickup to drop-off, the system shows where to drive, what needs to be handled, and where each timber grade belongs. If a storage area starts to fill up, SILog helps the operator choose the right option. If the timber yard changes frequently, storage areas can be managed dynamically instead of being tied to fixed positions. This makes the yard easier to plan, easier to adapt, and easier to operate on a day-to-day basis.

The platform is designed as a hybrid solution combining cloud and edge computing. The edge component supports operations at the lumber yard, while the cloud component supports administration, dashboards, reporting, and integration with ERP and planning systems. SILog can be deployed in the same cloud environment across multiple facilities, and there are no hard limits on the number of connected vehicles or the complexity of a sorting facility.

Connecting people and systems

SILog is designed to connect with existing systems. It can be integrated with log sorting, sawing lines, production planning, and ERP systems via APIs and other interfaces. This allows inventory and product assortment data to be passed on to the next stage in the production chain, rather than the information remaining isolated on the log yard. In practice, this means better planning, fewer surprises, and greater control over what is available for production.

SILog is particularly well-suited for sawmills with fixed cutting patterns, numerous bins, and frequent changes in log grades, where mistakes in the lumber yard quickly become costly. It is also suitable for terminals and other roundwood operations that require traceability and an overview of inventory across multiple facilities. Smaller sawmills can use SILog as a lighter solution for inventory control and traceability without machine clients, while larger facilities can use the full solution across vehicles, storage yards, and production flows.
